Poor baby had thrush, and the diaper rash to go with it. Yes, and I caught it too. No fun.
Here he is "sun bathing" and letting his bum air dry in the laundry basket. Seemed to be the best and safest way to let him sleep in front of a sunny window. This worked wonders on the rash.
Here he is with his purple mouth from the gentian violet.
This worked ok, I'm not sure if I used it often enough, because I ended up having to get a prescription in order to clear it up. It lasted a good two or three weeks. Again, no fun. I'm pretty sure we caught it because the doctor put us on an antibiotic during the birth. If I had thought about it I would have gotten on Probiotics right away to fight off the yeast, but I didn't put the two together until later when I was having trouble nursing.

One of the benefits of being an experienced mom: I recognized the painful nursing as thrush right away. I fought with that for six months when Immy was a baby and definitely didn't want to do that again. A few weeks is bad enough, its a hard way to start out nursing too. But all is well now, and I am enjoying cuddling and nursing my snuggly baby once again.
